Meet the Team: Spotlight on Our Rising Star, Cailin Brisbourne
At MAK, our team is at the heart of everything we do. This week, we shine the spotlight on one of our incredible Service Managers, Cailin Brisbourne, who has recently been nominated for The Rising Star Award (Learning Disabilities & Mental Health) —a testament to her dedication and impact.
What’s your role at MAK?
As the Service Manager for Erinalice Court and Monk’s Road Properties, I oversee the everyday running of these services. I also have the privilege of managing our brand-new Temporary Accommodation placements under MAK Care, which is an exciting addition to our offerings.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
My favourite part of the job is getting to meet and work with such a wide variety of people. Every person we support and every team member I interact with teaches me something new. I’m a very social person, and I love the daily interactions and conversations that come with the role.
How long have you been at MAK?
I’ll have been with MAK for two years this coming February. I joined as a Support Worker in February 2023, and over the past year, I’ve been promoted twice—first to Team Coach and then to Service Manager. It’s been an amazing journey, and I’m excited to see what the future holds!
What inspired you to work in the care industry?
My first experience in care was as a volunteer with SNAP (Special Needs and Parents) in Essex when I was just 14 years old. That experience ignited my passion for helping people become more independent and achieve their goals.
My interest in mental health support grew during my Psychology A-Level studies, which I initially took to learn more about myself and human behaviour. Since then, I’ve earned a BSc in Clinical Psychology and an MSc in Counselling Psychology—qualifications that I use every day in my role to provide the best support possible.
How does it feel to be nominated for your award?
I feel incredibly honoured to have been nominated for The Rising Star Award (Learning Disabilities & Mental Health). I’m so grateful to Brioney Mott for recognising my efforts. MAK has given me the opportunity not only to support individuals directly but also to raise awareness and share knowledge about mental health. It’s heartwarming to know that my work has made a positive impact and has been appreciated by those around me.
At MAK, we’re proud to have passionate and dedicated professionals like our Service Manager on our team. Her commitment to supporting others, fostering awareness about mental health, and leading with care and kindness is truly inspiring.
Stay tuned for more Meet the Team features as we continue to celebrate the amazing people who make MAK a place of care, compassion, and growth.
