Celebrating Social Care: Meet Paige, Support Team Member

Celebrating Social Care: Meet Paige, Support Team Member
15 April 2025William WinderNews

This April, Skills for Care is once again #CelebratingSocialCare, a wonderful opportunity to recognise the amazing individuals who work in care. Here at MAK Community Care, we’re thrilled to join in the celebrations, shining a spotlight on our team members who go the extra mile every day. This week, we’re delighted to introduce you to our Support Team Member, Paige. Read on to learn more about her role and what fuels her passion for social care.

Q: Could you tell us a bit about yourself and what your role as Support Team Member involves?
A: I’m Paige, and as a Support Team Member at MAK Community Care, I work directly with the people we support every day. Some days, I’m with someone one-to-one – perhaps accompanying them if they want to go out for the day, or helping with tasks like cleaning. Other times, I provide background support by checking in throughout the day, making sure they’re okay and helping with things like managing their medication. My role is about being there for them in the way they need.

Q: Could you tell us a bit more about what an average day might look like for you?
A: Some days, I might take someone who loves swimming to a lovely local pool, enjoying a relaxed one-to-one session. Other days, I might help someone visit their family, take their dog for a walk, spend time with them, and equally make sure they are spending enough time in their community. Our focus is always on promoting independence and making sure everyone feels as supported and connected as possible.

Q: How long have you been at MAK Community Care, and what do you love about working at MAK?
A: I started in January 2024 and have been a Support Team Member since then. I love the chance to build genuine relationships with the people we support – it’s wonderful getting to know them and sharing in their daily lives. I also appreciate that our management team are always there for us, whether it’s out of hours or in office hours, so there’s always someone that we can talk to if we need it. It’s amazing to have that support.

Q: Finally, do you have any hobbies, or is there something interesting about you people might not know?
A: I’m a big dog lover, so whenever I’m supporting someone who has a dog, it always brightens my day! It’s another way to connect with the people we support, and I particular appreciate the opportunity to enjoy activities together, it’s a great part of the job!

Stay tuned throughout April as we continue to celebrate our fantastic team and the remarkable work they do each day!
