Celebrating Social Care: Meet Rosie Greatorex, Rota Coordinator

This April, Skills for Care is once again #CelebratingSocialCare, a wonderful opportunity to recognise the amazing individuals who work in care. Here at MAK Community Care, we’re thrilled to join in the celebrations, shining a spotlight on our team members who go the extra mile every day. This week, we’d like you to meet Rosie, our dedicated Rota Coordinator. Read on to learn more about her role and what drives her passion for social care.
Q: Could you tell us a bit about yourself and what your role as Rota Coordinator at MAK involves?
AMy name is Rosie, and I’m the Rota Coordinator for MAK Community Care. I’m responsible for the entire rota in Lincolnshire, Gainsborough and Skegness, making sure our staff and the people we support get the hours they need. It’s a big job, but it’s about making sure everyone’s needs are being met and the service is running smoothly.
Q: How long have you been at MAK Community Care? And can you tell me what an average day looks like for you?
A: I’ve been with MAK for almost two years now. A typical day involves handling enquiries, ensuring the people we support have coverage for their appointments and weekly activities, and approving staff annual leave. I also manage the wages once a month, so there’s always plenty to keep me busy.Q: What are your biggest challenges on the job?
A: One of the biggest challenges is keeping everyone happy. I work on the rota for over 150 people, so balancing staff hours with the needs of the people we support can be tricky. But it’s really important to me that everyone feels taken care of.
Q: So, what inspired you to work in the care industry?
A: I’ve pretty much always worked in care. It’s something I genuinely enjoy because it’s all about helping people.
Q: Finally, do you have any hobbies, or is there something interesting about you people might not know?
A: I used to compete worldwide in Irish dancing!
Stay tuned throughout April as we continue to celebrate our fantastic team and the remarkable work they do each day!
