Celebrating Social Care: Meet Morgan Caines, Service Manager

This April, Skills for Care is once again #CelebratingSocialCare, a wonderful opportunity to recognise the amazing individuals who work in care. Here at MAK Community Care, we’re thrilled to join in the celebrations, shining a spotlight on our team members who go the extra mile every day. This week, we’d like you to meet our Service Manager, Morgan Caines. Morgan is a key part of our team, working hard to ensure both our staff and the people we support receive the guidance, resources and quality support they need. Read on to learn more about his role and what drives his passion for social care.
Q: Morgan, could you tell us a bit about yourself and what your role as Service Manager involves?
A: My name is Morgan Caines, and I’m proud to be a Service Manager at MAK Community Care. Essentially, my job is to make sure our staff feel fully supported, which in turn helps them deliver top-quality care. That can include reviewing care plans, liaising with each person’s multidisciplinary team – such as social workers and mental health professionals – and making sure we’re providing the best, most holistic support possible.
Q: What does an average day look like for you?
A: Every day is a little different, but it’s always about supporting our staff. If they come to me with challenges – whether work-related or personal – I’m here to listen, guide and help them find solutions. I also spend time with the people we support, checking in to see if they’re happy with their care – so making sure we’re asking all the right questions like, “Is this helping you in the way you want?” and “How can we make it even better?”
Q: How long have you been at MAK Community Care, and what are your biggest challenges – and joys – on the job?
A: I’ve been here for nearly three years, and one of the biggest challenges – yet also one of the most important parts of my role – is supporting staff through personal difficulties. I take that responsibility seriously because when our team feels cared for, they can give their very best to the people we support. I absolutely love seeing the positive impact our support can have on someone’s life. Watching individuals grow, develop new skills, and improve their mental health over time is incredibly rewarding.
Q: What inspired you to work in the care industry?
A: I’ve actually been in the care industry all my working life. It started out as something I stumbled on in college, but I found it incredibly fulfilling and just fell in love with it.
Q: Finally, do you have any hobbies, or is there something interesting about you people might not know?
A: I’m a huge football fan, and I also collect LEGO Star Wars – a lot of it, actually!
Stay tuned throughout April as we continue to celebrate our fantastic team and the remarkable work they do each day!
